The Minister of Labour and Vocational Training Heng Sour, and William Conklin, Country Director of the American Centre for International Labour Solidarity (ACILS), yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Labour Cooperation, at the Ministry.

The MoU between the two counterparts is aimed at promoting the harmonisation of occupational relations and occupational health and safety (OSH) in Cambodia.

The Minister emphasised that the signing of this MoU will further serve as a basis for strengthening occupational relations and improving occupational safety in Cambodia’s factories, which are key to maintaining investment and attracting more investors to Cambodia because of the progress of harmonisation of professional relations in Cambodia.

The Minister further noted that the current MoU is a sign of trust and confidence between the two institutions but also promotes a better and closer relationship between Cambodia and the United States.

At the same time, Sour also recalled the five-year strategic plan (2024-2028), which aims to strengthen the progress of employment, social security, and vocational training in Cambodia.

Conklin praised the work of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry, for its continuous improvement through legal and institutional mechanisms, especially the protection of workers and the people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

William expressed his firm belief that the MoU signed for the third time will continue to be as successful as those signed since 2018.
